Chuck and the rest of the CB,
Thanks for the streamed Christmas concert this week from Interlochen. It was a great concert. I passed the link on to several in the brass group in which I currently play and they also enjoyed the concert. For myself, I have been listening to CB since 1981 or so when I was introduced to brass quintet music by a tuba player while I was in grad school in Virginia. We formed our own quintet and the CB was our inspiration and the source of a lot of our music, I later moved to Minnesota and started a quintet at work and enjoyed playing for several years. I have heard you often over the years in Virginia, Washington D.C, Minneapolis and Wisconsin. You have entertained and inspired millions and I am just one of the grateful alive. Keep it up. BTW, the sound quality was excellent – I streamed the concert from my mac to my flat screen TV. The picture quality wasn’t always great – but Chuck isn’t getting any younger; Nice to hear some old standards as well as new stuff mixed in. The ballet was great!
One final note.. The Tuba plater who first told me about the CB is also a very good arranger. He often recovers original brass arrangements from Bach and others as the CB has done so well.. My all time favorite around Christmas time is his arrangement of Sicut Locust Est – the next last piece in the Bach Magnificat. He starts the fugue on the Tuba and builds from there. It is a magnificent piece. I wonder if you have ever considered doing some of the tunes from the Magnificat? It is a great work and most people have never heard it. Good job for the CB,,
