Canadian Brass, Ron Romm Custom Designed Mouthpiece
Canadian Brass, Ron Romm Custom Designed Mouthpiece

Own a piece of CB History. Several years ago Ronald Romm designed this unique silver plated trumpet mouthpiece. It is shallow in depth...more like an "E" cup Bach equivalent, but Ron made up for the physical volume by undercutting the cup (going backwards from the rim edge. Ron also designed it with a fatter rim than ordinary mouthpieces, which he felt, helped endurance by maintaining blood flow to the lips. This is a very responsive, easy playing mouthpiece, good for the high register; the sound is bright and clear.

We have been offering the Lexan Mouthpieces in our online store for several years now with great success. Bring Your Cameras to the Concert!

Known for having long ago changed the rules of the concert game, Canadian Brass is at it again. They are reaching out to fans, asking them to bring their cameras to the Brass' concerts. Now the pre-concert announcement says: "Tonight, photography is not only allowed but encouraged. Flash photography is fine." By sending their shots to Jeff after the concert, audience members can vie for prizes and see their work on canadianbrass.com.

The book Rehearsing the Band is a great resource with suggestions from conductors that know. In his foreword, Frederick Fennell says, "If you are a conductor, or are in training to be one, or are confused about how it's going, this book is all about you and me." Ask Mike

Do you have a question you've always wanted to ask the Brass? Mike Jipson runs the Canadian Brass Store and is an expert on just about everything Canadian Brass! Each month we'll be highlighting one of your questions...

Q: Your December 2009 newsletter has an article regarding bringing cameras to CB concerts and I seem to remember a similar article in previous newsletters. We attended the December concert at George Mason in Fairfax, VA where the announcer was very specific about no photography. Are you still limited by local policy? - Duane

A: Some venues have limitations on publishing pictures and videos due to union rules. We announce from the stage that we encourage picture taking. Some ushers miss the announcement, and stop picture taking, and some venues stop us from announcing it. Please feel free to take pictures, and if someone stops you, please enjoy the rest of the concert and take a look at the cool pics from our other concerts in our new "Fan Stuff" area that we build for everyone to post pics in! We love getting your pictures that have been taken DURING our concerts!
